Carson, Krstich, Thieneman join Snell as new pieces among Herd bench
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Men's Basketball Head Coach Cornelius 'Corny' Jackson announced the completion of his full staff for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday.
Jackson has added Isaiah Carson as Assistant Coach/Director of Operations and Matt Krstich as Video Coordinator to round out the staff for his second season leading the Thundering Herd.
"We're incredibly excited to officially welcome two outstanding additions to our coaching staff," Jackson said. "Both Isaiah and Matt bring a strong work ethic, dedication and a passion for helping student-athletes achieve on and off the court. Their energy and commitment to excellence will play a vital role in the continued growth and success of our program. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together."
Both Carson and Krstich have been part of winning programs in the past, meaning they know what it takes to perform at a championship level.
Carson comes to Marshall from Southern Miss where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to a Sun Belt Conference regular season championship and subsequent NIT berth.
He brings a decade of coaching experience at the collegiate and prep levels with him to Huntington.
Krstich comes to Marshall from Akron where he served as a graduate assistant, leading the Zips efforts in film operations while assisting in player development and practice execution.
During his time at Akron as a graduate and undergrad, Krstich was a part of three MAC Championship teams who went on to the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to Carson and Krstich, Jackson announced that former player Creighton Thieneman is joining the team as a graduate manager for the 2025-26 season.
These announcements combine with the summer addition of assistant coach Steve Snell to give the Herd staff a new look as it enters Jackson's second year at the helm.
Snell, who was announced in June, has more than 30 years of collegiate coaching experience and spent the last five years at NC State. With the Wolfpack, he spent the first three seasons as the Director of Operations before moving to an assistant coach for the last two seasons where he aided the team to a Final Four appearance in the 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament - NC State's first since 1983.
The Radford, Virginia, native is in his second stint with the Herd, having served as an assistant for Marshall from 1996-2001 under Greg White.Â
Fans can get a first look at Marshall Men's Basketball's new staff and players for 2025-26 at Hoops in Huntington, which takes place on Oct. 16 in downtown Huntington. The team's first exhibition will be its Oct. 21 matchup against Alice Lloyd at Cam Henderson Center.
