Marshall Cross Country Sweeps Eagle Invitational Friday

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Marshall Cross Country is heading into the postseason with the perfect finish to the regular season, sweeping the Eagle Invitational at Morehead State Friday morning.
The Herd women took the 6K race, led by Rachael Withrow's fourth individual win in as many meets. Withrow's 6K time of 20:07 finished 75 seconds over the next finisher.
Marshall's men won in equally dominant fashion, with Brady Dawkins leading a MU Top-5 which all finished within the overall Top-10 of the race with his runner-up finish and 8K time of 25:11.
"Today was a great day! There's no better feeling than heading into conference championship season with a win," said Director of XC/TF Keith Roberts. "It was truly a TEAM effort, and I'm proud of the way both groups competed."
"Our men continue to mix it up, and their depth and pack running will serve them well at the conference championship. We're building the kind of team that can compete together and make things happen when it matters most. Our women continue to show tremendous consistency. We have a great mix of experienced veterans and newcomers, and the team chemistry is amazing. They believe in one another, continue to get better, and are ready to put together a great conference meet!"
The Herd competes next at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in two weeks, on Friday, Oct. 30 in Foley, Alabama.
"Today was a great day! Very proud of both squads and the way they competed. I thought we did a great job packing up and really pushing each other," said Head XC Coach Caleb Bowen. "Proud to see Rachael close in on the 20 min barrier on a tough course on a humid day along with Destiny running sub 22 and Brayleigh/Ella running tough!"
"On the men's side it was awesome seeing Brady lead the herd with a 2nd place finish and then strength in our pack with Landon Jones, Amos Kimble, Ryan Hughes, and Conner Myers all finishing within 35 seconds of each other."
