HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics and Herd Hospitality are pleased to announce a two-year agreement between Huntington High School and Spring Valley High School to play their annual football rivalry at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

United Bank will serve as the presenting sponsor for the games, which will take place during the 2026 and 2027 seasons under the agreement.

Spring Valley will be the designated home team for the 2026 contest - set for Sept. 11 - while the 2027 contest will have the Highlanders as the home team and be played at a date to be determined.

"When we started Herd Hospitality, the vision was to create experiences that further connect our university and athletics department with our fans, and we couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to host two of our premier local schools in their rivalry matchup for the next two years," said Ryan Crisp, Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation. "The Sept. 11 contest between the two schools will kick off an awesome weekend of football at Joan C. Edwards Stadium."

The addition of this matchup adds to an exciting Sept. 11-12 weekend of football at Joan C. Edwards Stadium that includes Marshall's 2026 home opener against Middle Tennessee.

The Huntington-Spring Valley contest will be an 8 p.m. kickoff on Friday night while the game-time for Marshall's Sept. 12 contest against Middle Tennessee will be 7 p.m.

Tickets and parking for the 2026 Huntington-Spring Valley game will go on sale in July and be sold through Marshall Athletics.

The Huntington-Spring Valley matchup brings together two teams with a steeped cross-town rivalry and two programs who have been among the state of West Virginia's elite over the past decade-plus.

Through Herd Hospitality, this venture continues the collaborative efforts of Marshall Athletics to build meaningful relationships and experiences that enhance the bond between the university and its community by providing its venues to serve as the host for events that promote community and state pride while creating memories that last a lifetime.

Other events of this nature include the 2026 West Virginia State Baseball Tournament, which will be played from June 6-13 at Marshall University's Jack Cook Field.
