HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football will welcome generations of Thundering Herd fans back to Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Sat., Sept. 26 as the Herd hosts Gardner-Webb in Marshall University's 2026 Homecoming Game.

The Marshall Homecoming game celebrates the traditions, memories and connections that make Marshall University special. From returning alumni and former students, to current fans and families, Homecoming is an opportunity for Herd Nation to come together and celebrate what it means to be part of the Marshall family.
Fans are encouraged to participate in "Stripe The Joan" by wearing the designated color for their seating section. Fans in sections 101, 102, 103, 106, 107, 108, 111, 112, 116, 122, 126, and 128 should wear white, while fans in sections 104, 105, 109, 110, 113, 114, 115, 117, 119, 121, 123, 124, and 130 should wear green.
Marshall Athletics will also welcome families to the Joan as part of Family Weekend festivities. Parents, siblings, and supporters of Marshall students will have opportunities to experience a full Homecoming Saturday while cheering on the Thundering Herd.
The game will also serve as a focal point for Marshall University's Alumni Association celebrations, providing returning graduates with the opportunity to reconnect with classmates, revisit campus traditions and support the Herd together.
In addition to welcoming alumni back to campus, Marshall University will host Green & White Day during Homecoming weekend. The event brings prospective students and their families to Huntington for an opportunity to explore campus, connect with faculty and staff, and experience the excitement of a Marshall Football game day firsthand. Future members of Herd Nation will have the chance to see the passion and pride that make Marshall University a special place to call home.
Fans attending the game will also be among the first to experience several enhancements to Joan C. Edwards Stadium introduced for the 2026 season. Expanded concourse areas will provide improved traffic flow and gathering spaces throughout the venue, helping create a more comfortable and enjoyable game day experience for all fans.
The 2026 season also debuts a new state-of-the-art stadium lighting system, designed to enhance the atmosphere inside The Joan and elevate key moments throughout the game.
Presented by Ford, the Homecoming game will showcase the pride, tradition and spirit that have connected generations of Marshall supporters. Whether returning to Huntington for the first time in years or continuing a lifelong tradition, Homecoming offers every member of Herd Nation the chance to celebrate their Marshall story.
Single-game tickets for the 2026 football season will go on sale July 15, while mini plans become available June 15. Season tickets are on sale now.
The Marshall Homecoming game is the second of six themed home games that will be unveiled throughout the summer as Marshall Athletics continues to elevate the fan experience and celebrate the traditions that unite Herd Nation.
