George Carpenter is in his first year as assistant strength and conditioning at Marshall after two years as a graduate assistant and oversees the Thundering Herd's softball program.
Carpenter was a standout linebacker for the Thundering Herd from 2008-2011. He finished third on the team with 92 tackles as a senior.
Carpenter was a multi-sport prep standout at Lancaster High School in Ohio and helped the football team to four straight state playoff berths as a fullback. He was a an accomplished swimmer, winning the conference championships in the 50 meter free and the 100 meter breaststroke as a senior.
