Mary Clark was named director of the Buck Harless Student Athlete Program in 2003. As apart of her duties she oversees the academic services for the more than 350 student-athletes at Marshall. Clark supervises a professional staff of 3 counselors, an administrative secretary, 11 graduate assistants and 25 tutors. In addition to this she serves as the academic advisor for the following teams; volleyball, tennis, swimming & diving, men's & women's cross country & women's track.
Before arriving in Huntington, she was the Coordinator of Student Programs at Marquette University. There, she coordinated the tutorial program, served as an academic advisor and coordinated many of the CHAMPS Life Skills programs and community service projects for the Marquette student-athletes.
Clark completed and started her undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D studies at Southeast Missouri State University and Marquette University, respectively. Her degrees include; a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations with a minor in Retail Management, a Masters Degree in Guidance in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education, she also has hours towards a Ph.D. in Educational Policy & Leadership. Clark's other accomplishments & affiliations include; published author & graphic artist; Who's Who Among University Graduate Students; National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics; Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
