Karen L. McComas, Ed.D., CCC-S/A, is the Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Professor in the department of Communication Disorders, and the NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) at Marshall University (Huntington, WV). In the CTL, McComas leads efforts to shape the institution’s approach to professional development for staff, non-tenure track faculty, pre-tenured faculty and tenured faculty. Simultaneously, these efforts lead to student success and achievement of curricular outcomes at the course, program, and institutional levels. As the FAR, McComas plays a strategic role at the institution by monitoring the academic integrity of the athletics program, facilitating institutional control of the intercollegiate athletic program, and advocating for student-athlete well-being.
