Tom Huynh joined Marshall University in January 2026 as the Head Diving Coach, bringing a strong background in high-performance athlete development, biomechanics, and sport science.
A biomedical engineering graduate from Purdue University, he also serves as an Elite Diving Biomechanics Research Fellow, where he develops wearable IMU technology designed to enhance technical performance and reduce injury risk in elite divers.
Prior to joining Marshall, Huynh gained extensive coaching experience at the club, high school, and collegiate levels, including roles as Associate Head Diving Coach at Greater Lafayette Area Diving and Head Diving Coach at Harrison High School, producing national qualifiers, state champions, and NCAA Division I and II commits.
His coaching philosophy integrates periodized training, advanced video and data analysis, dry-land and apparatus development, and mental performance, while his leadership experience includes managing budgets, coordinating championship-level meet operations, and contributing nationally as Vice-Chair of the USA Diving Coaches Advisory Committee in support of coach education, policy development, and the long-term growth of the sport.
