  • Class:
    1995
No one in the history of Marshall football has rushed for more yards or found the end zone more often than Chris Parker. The Lynchburg, Va., native carried the football for 602 yards as a freshman for the 1992 NCAA Division I-AA national champions, and then exploded to run for more than 1,700 yards in each of his last three seasons, winning All-American honors all three years. Parker was voted the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995. His 5,924 career yards set the Southern Conference record at that time and remain the all-time Marshall record, as does his single-season best of 1,833 yards as a senior, his 68 rushing and 71 total career touchdowns, his 428 career points scored and his 7,145 all purpose yards. Parker was named the West Virginia Amateur Athlete of the Year in 1995. He also ran as a sprinter for the Marshall track team in 1994 and 1995. Parker was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.
