Erin Compton
- Induction:
- 2013
- Class:
- 2003
With an eighth-place finish in the discus at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Erin Compton became Marshall’s first female All-American. That accomplishment capped a career in which the Oak Hill, W.Va., native rewrote the Marshall record book, where she still ranks high in several events including the discus, hammer and 20-pound weight. Compton won Mid-American Conference titles in the discus in 2001 and 2003 and became the first Marshall performer to win a title at the historic Penn Relays with a discus victory in 2003. In her Marshall career, she won 17 event championships, including 11 in the discus. Compton was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.
