One of Marshall’s best hurdlers and runners, Chillicothe, Ohio, native Lynn Kochendorfer was a three-time Southern Conference track and field champion. In 1988 – already a team captain as a sophomore – she helped power Marshall to a third-place finish in the Southern Conference Indoor Championship and second in the Outdoor Championships later that spring, receiving all-conference honors as a member of Marshall’s mile relay team.
As a junior, she won the league Indoor Championship in the 55-meter hurdles (8.62), setting new Marshall and Southern Conference records, and won the 100-meter hurdles at the outdoor meet a few months later, leading the program to third-place finishes in both meets. She made it two in a row in the 1990 Southern Conference Outdoor Championship in the 100-meter hurdles by winning again, and again helped the team to second-place finishes in both meets.
Also a regular on the Marshall Dean’s List, she received Marshall’s Arlene Stooke Leadership Award. Kochendorfer was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.
