    1992
One of the most prolific tight ends in Marshall history, Mike Bartrum went on to play 13 seasons in the National Football League, mostly on the strength of his long snapping abilities. Bartrum suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss the 1990 season, but bounced back to win All-Southern Conference recognition in 1991 and 1992, also garnering All-America honors as he caught 62 passes, including nine for touchdowns, in helping the Thundering Herd to the 1992 NCAA Division I-AA national championship. Bartrum, who also served as a relief pitcher for the Marshall baseball team, caught 11 passes – six for touchdowns – during an NFL career in which he played for Kansas City, Green Bay, New England and Philadelphia, appearing in two Super Bowls (1997 and 2005) and the 2005 Pro Bowl. After retiring from professional football, Bartrum returned to his native Pomeroy, Ohio, and became the head football coach at Meigs County High School. Bartrum was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.
