  • Induction:
    2004
  • Class:
    1978
A member of the 1976 Marshall golf team that received an NCAA Tournament bid even though the Thundering Herd was not in a conference at that point, Scott Davis won that year’s long drive contest at the NCAA championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The next season, as a junior, he helped the Thundering Herd win the Marshall Invitational (now known as the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational) and as a senior Davis was the Marshall Invitational individual champion. The Wheeling, W.Va., native led Marshall in stroke average and received All-Southern Conference honors in 1978, and later that summer won the West Virginia Amateur championship, in the process shooting a round of 64 to tie the all-time tournament record as he birdied six of the first 11 holes on the Old White course. He then turned pro and would go on to win West Virginia Open titles in 1982, 1990, 1995 and 1998. Davis was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
