Marshall Wins First Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship

Oxford, OH - The Marshall women's tennis team defeated the Miami University Redhawks today to claim the Herd's first Mid-American Conference regular season championship.
The win will give the Herd the top seed in the MAC Championship that will be held April 27th-29th in Kalamazoo, MI.
"I am so excited and proud of the girls," said Head Coach Laurie Mercer. "They have overcame so much adversity with all the injuries this year. We still have a lot ahead of us. Winning the MAC tournament championship is the only way we can get a NCAA bid. This is a great accomplishment for the girls to win the MAC in only our third season in the league."
The last championship for the team was in 1997 when they won the Southern Conference Championship.

The Herd improved improved their record to 18-6 overall for the season and 8-1 in Mid-American Conference play. The next match will be April 27th-29th when the Herd travels to Kalamazoo, MI for the MAC Championship tournament.
