Herd Tennis Set for Action at ITA Atlantic Regional

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis Team travels to Lynchburg, Virginia, for the ITA Atlantic Regional beginning on Thursday.

The finalists in the singles draw and champions in doubles will qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships.

Last weekend Marshall competed at the Wahoowa Invitational last weekend.

On Friday, Polina Gumeniuk and Isabella Walker picked up a doubles victory over West Virginia's Sorana Matis and Sosanna Malaak, 6-4.

Then in singles, Alina Mokrynska rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-6, win in a super tiebreaker over Matis with Sarah Copley winning by retirement over Malaak with a 4-3 lead in the first set.

On Saturday, Copley and Mokrynska grinded out a 7-5 triumph in doubles over James Madison's Corinna Rietmann and Anna Kantor.

Copley followed that with a straight sets win (7-5, 6-2) over the Dukes Brooklyn Hoffman as Nour El Ouazzani won in a super tiebreaker over Rietman and Amelie Gomez won 6-2, 6-3, over Myra Shaikh.
