Marshall Tennis Defeats Miami University

Kalamazoo, MI - The Marshall women's tennis team earned a spot in the final match of the 2000 Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Tournament by defeating Miami University, 4-1.
The Herd came out strong and gained a 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles point. Marshall then clinched the match with wins in No. 1, 2 and 4. The No. 3 and 5 matches were not finished.
"I am excited for our girls and our program," said Head Coach Laurie Mercer. "Miami is a great team and it was hard beating them twice. We need to stay focused and prepare for tomorrow."
The Herd will play the winner of Bowling Green and Western Michigan in the finals. The final match is scheduled for Sunday, April 30th, at 1 p.m. The winner of the final match will win the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Herd is now 20-6 overall for the season. Miami falls to 12-11.
