Marshall Tennis Team Loses in Final Match of Tournament

Kalalmazoo, MI - The Marshall University women's tennis team fell to Western Michigan University in finals of the 2000 Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Tournament. The Broncos defeated the Thundering Herd, 4-0.
The Broncos took the 1-0 lead when they won two of the three doubles matches against the Herd. The Herd did clinch a no 1 doubles match. Anna Mitina and Ana Ceretto defeated Larissa Chinwaha and Nikki Thompson, 8-2.
Marshall finishes its season with a 20-7 record overall. The Herd finished the regular season in a first place tie with Western Michigan. However earning the first place tournament seed with a regular season victory over Western Michigan. This will be the Broncos second trip to the NCAA tournament.

Singles: 1. Chinwah (WMU) d. Mitina, 6-1, 6-3. 2. Ceretto (MU) led Malik, 7-5 DNF. 3. Peller (MU) vs. Thompson, 7-5, 2-4, DNF. 4. Remynse (WMU) led Cabiling, 7-5, 4-3 DNF. 5. Dimitrescu (WMU) d.Pierko, 6-3, 6-3. 6. Becker (WMU) d. Watkins, 6-4, 6-0.
