Tennis Inks Holly Asel

Huntington, WVa.- Marshall University women?s tennis signed Holly Asel today. She is the first signee of the 2002-03 season for head coach Laurie Mercer.

Asel hails from Leawood, Kansas where she played at Blue Valley North High School, leading her team to two 6A state championships. She was also chosen as the USPTA student-athlete of the year and is ranked second in the Missouri Valley section 18 and under. Asel was also awarded the Stephanie Waterman Sportsmanship Award and was named to the All-Metro Kansas City Team this past year. She is currently ranked 145 nationally in the 18 and under bracket. Asel plans on majoring in accounting at Marshall University.
