Marshall University's men's basketball team will attempt to build off of its success in the Toyota Capital Classic when it travels to Toledo for an important Mid-American Conference meeting the Rockets Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be carried by ESPN Regional/Thundering Herd network television.

Marshall (9-8, 3-4 in the MAC) is coming off of a win over in-state rival West Virginia University on Wednesday.

Tamar Slay led the way for the Herd with 23 points and seven rebounds, while J.R. VanHoose pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds to help Marshall to an 81-79 overtime victory in Charleston. The win ended Marshall?s five game losing streak in the series and sent WVU to its eighth straight loss (the Mountaineers worst losing streak since the late 1930?s).

Slay, a 6-9 senior guard, leads MU in scoring with 19.1 points per game and sophomore Ronald Blackshear is adding 17.3 points per outing. Senior J.R. VanHoose is averaging 15.9 points and a team-high 11 rebounds per outing for a Thundering Herd squad that has lost four of its last six games.

The Rockets (6-9 overall, 3-3 in the MAC) are looking to get back on track after back-to-back league losses at Bowling Green and Central Michigan. UT is also looking to end a three game skid against Marshall.

Toledo is paced by sophomore guard Terry Reynolds who is averaging a team-high 13.8 points per game. Junior Nick Moore is contributing 12.3 points per game, while 6-7 sophomore Ricardo Thomas is leading the team with 5.6 rebounds per game.
