Men's Basketball Battles Ohio Saturday

Marshall University's men's basketball team will travel to Athens, Ohio Saturday to battle MAC East rival Ohio University. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m. and the game will be carried live by Fox Sports Ohio and Empire Television.
The Bobcats (11-6, 6-3) enter the game on a two game losing streak after dropping contests at Western Michigan (95-65) and at home to Akron (74-73).
Ohio features a strong front line with Brandon Hunter and Patrick Flomo. Hunter leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 17.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, while Flomo has recorded a MAC best 33 blocked shots.
In addition, Ohio's Sonny Johnson is averaging 15.5 points per game and Steve Esterkamp is contributing 13.3 points per outing.
Marshall (10-9, 4-5 in the MAC) is coming off a 98-95 doubl-overtime victory over Ball State. Temple transfer Ronald Blackshear hit the game winning three-pointer with only two seconds remaining in the second overtime period to seal the victory. The sophomore shooting guard scored a career-high 33 points in the win.
J.R. VanHoose recorded his 48th career double-double with 18 points and 14 boards, and Monty Wright added a career-high 16 points.
The Thundering Herd has four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Tamar Slay and Ronald Blackshear. J.R. VanHoose leads the team in rebounding with 10.8 boards per game.
