Local Signee Hopes To ?Bring The Thunder Through Huntington?

Huntington, W.Va.--Marshall women?s basketball coach Royce Chadwick has dipped into the local area to sign one of the best prospects in the state of West Virginia. KaShawna Curry, a Huntington High School product, signed her National Letter of Intent with the Thundering Herd today, pushing MU?s fall class to three.
?It?s time to bring the thunder through Huntington,? said Curry on her recent signing.
And with the credentials she brings to the table for coach Chadwick and his staff, they are ready to feel the rumble. This season, the 6?0 guard was named as an honorable mention All-American selection in Street & Smith magazine, a prominent preseason basketball publication. The All-Star Girls Report tabbed her as a top 30 prospect, and she was a member of the AAA all-state first team last spring. She participated in the Nike All-American camp in the summer of 2002.
?What a coup,? said Marshall head coach Royce Chadwick. ?She is the best player in the state of West Virginia and the region. It?s nice to have a program that you can recruit the local player to. She wants to represent the community, her family, and Marshall University. People in the tri-state love to watch her play, and we?re extremely happy to have her join the Marshall family.?
Curry was also being recruited by Western Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
