Huntington, W.Va.--Washington D.C.-area women?s basketball star Teyonka Hodge has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Marshall University. Marshall?s fall total is now up to four players.
Hodge, a former Dunbar High School standout who now attends Laurinburg Institute in Washington, D.C., averaged 14 points, eight steals, and eight assists per game as a senior at Dunbar. The 5?4 point guard was the MVP of the DCIAA State Tournament in 2002, and was named to Street & Smith?s honorable mention All-American team in 2001. She attended the Adidas Top Ten Camp in 2001 and 2002, and was ranked as a top 30 point guard by the All-Star Girls Report.
?Teyonka is one of the players you would see on a shoe commercial,? said Marshall head coach Royce Chadwick. ?Her ball-handling skills are phenomenal and we feel she can become a great floor general for our team. She can run the show and be the show.?
Hodge was also recruited by Alabama, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, and James Madison.
