Marshall Women Drop 61-55 Decision To Ole Miss

Nassau, Bahamas--The Marshall women's basketball team dropped to 3-5 on the season with a 61-55 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels Sunday night in the consolation game of the Sunsplash Shootout. The Rebels improve to 8-1.

Ole Miss put the Herd away at the 12:16 mark in the second half, when the Rebels' Elizabeth Cansdale knocked in two consecutive three-pointers to give Ole Miss a 43-38 lead. Marshall never got closer than three points the rest of the way. MU held leads throughout the game up to that point.

Sikeetha Shepard-Hall led the Thundering Herd with 16 points, while being named to the all-tournament team. Catie Knable led Marshall on the boards with nine.

Ole Miss got 23 points out of freshman Ashley Johnson, with 20 of those coming in the first half on 8-of-11 shooting. Tenisha Gist also scored 11 points.

Marshall gets eight days off until their next matchup with Shepherd College in Huntington on December 30th. Tip-time is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
