Marshall Basketball Faces Kent State Tuesday

Marshall's men's basketball team will try to knock off Mid-American Conference leader Kent State Tuesday in Kent, Ohio. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Golden Flashes (20-5, 13-1), winners of 11 straight, have all but secured the Mid-American Conference regular season title.

Kent features a tremendous balance with double-digit scorers Antonio Gates, Andrew Mitchell, and Trevor Huffman. Gates leads the team with 15.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while Mitchell and Huffman add 15.4 and 15.2 points per game, respectively.

Kent State is a perfect 10-0 at home this season and is coming off of a 73-57 win over Miami. Huffman led the Flashes with 26 points in that contest.

Marshall (12-12, 6-8 MAC) is coming off of a 71-66 loss to Ohio in Huntington. Ohio?s Brandon Hunter dominated the inside by scoring 27 points and grabbing 22 rebounds before a national television audience on ESPN.

Despite, Hunter?s outing, Marshall was its own worst enemy. The Herd connected on only 13 of 25 free throw attempts.

Ronald Blackshear leads Marshall in scoring with 18.1 points per game, while Tamar Slay adds 17.9 points per outing. J.R. VanHoose averages 14.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
