Marshall Basketball Faces Buffalo Saturday

2/21/2002

Marshall University's men's basketball team travels to Buffalo on Saturday for an important Mid-American Conference game with Bulls. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m.

Both Marshall (12-13, 6-9 in the MAC) and Buffalo (11-15, 6-9 in the MAC) are battling for home court advantage in the first round of the upcoming MAC tournament and a win Saturday would greatly improve either teams standing.

The top three teams in the MAC receive automatic first round byes, while seeds four through eight garner home games. If the MAC tournament were held today, Marshall would be seeded ninth and Buffalo eighth, due to the Bulls win in Huntington earlier this year. A Marshall win on Saturday moves the Herd closer to a Top Eight finish and a conference tournament home game.

If Marshall is able to win its remaining games with Buffalo, Central Michigan and Akron, the Herd could be seeded as high as sixth and no lower than eighth.
