Marshall Basketball Clashes With Bowling Green Saturday

Marshall University's men's basketball team will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to battle the Bowling Green State University Falcons Saturday in Mid-American Conference basketball action. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Falcons (17-5, 7-4) defeated Ohio 80-64 on Wednesday and have won three of their last four. The Flacons started the season 13-1 and own non-conference wins over Mississippi, Michigan, Detroit, Evansville and Indiana State.

BGSU is led by the triple threat of Keith McLeod, Len Matela, and Brandon Pardon. McLeod leads the MAC in scoring with 23.7 points per game, while Matela adds 15.4 points and a team-high eight rebounds per game. Pardon leads the MAC with 6.68 assists per game and boasts a MAC best 2.33 assist to turnover ratio.

Marshall (11-10, 5-6) is coming off of a 78-63 win at home over Akron Tuesday. In that game, senior J.R. VanHoose pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds, including the 1,000th of his career, and scored 15 points to lead the Thundering Herd. Marshall has now won three of its last five.

Senior Tamar Slay leads the team in scoring with 18.6 points per game, while VanHoose averages a double-double with 15.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Temple transfer Ronald Blackshear contributes 18 points per game off the bench.
