Tennis Falls to Eagles, 2-5

YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Marshall University tennis team fell, 2-5 to the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

In doubles the Eagles claimed the doubles point. Rebecca Hawkins and Lisa D'Amelio claimed the No. 1 spot by defeating Anna Mitina and Alice Sukner, 8-6. At No. 2 doubles Jessica Johnson and Ashley Kroh defeated Simone Duhme and Kendra Clark, 8-2. Shari Gamarnik and Amalia Lincaru defeated Joelle Good and Danielle Hock, 9-7 at No. 3.

The Herd did grab two singles victories. Good claimed the No. 5 spot by defeating Gamarnik, 6-4, 6-3. Kroh defeated Clark, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot. Hawkins defeated Johnson, 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot. In no. 2 singles, D'Amelio defeated Mitina, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Sukner fell to Duhme, 6-4, 6-3. In the No. 4 spot Lille Nzudie fell to Lincaru, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Marshall is now 11-5 on the season 3-1 in MAC competition.

The Herd's next match up will be April 2, when it takes on Miami in Oxford, Ohio.
