Senior, Anna Mitina claims a victory at the No.2 spot. Today was Mitina's birthday.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- The Marshall University tennis team posted a 7-0 win over the Bowling Green State University Friday afternoon. Due to rain, the Mid-American Conference match was held at Shadow Valley in Toledo.

The Herd swept all three singles to take the 1-0 lead. Anna Mitina and Lille Nzudi defeated Devon Bissinger and Susan Schoenberger, 9-7 at the No. 1 spot. The No. 60 ranked duo of Jessica Johnson and Ashley Kroh defeated Alyson Gabel and Gaby Coello, 8-2 in No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles Danielle Hock and Alice Sukner defeated Jessica Johnson (BGSU) and Lisa Maloney, 8-3.

In singles, the Herd got wins from Johnson, Sukner, Nzudie, Good and Kroh.

Senior, Mitina claimed the No. 2 spot by defeating Maloney in three sets. The third set was decided in a tiebreaker, which Mitina claimed 16-14. The match was a great present for Mitina since today is her birthday.

The Herd will continue play tomorrow when they travel to Muncie to take on the Ball State Cardinals.

The Thundering Herd improves to 15-7 overall and 5-1 in MAC action, while the Falcons fall to 2-16 and 1-5, respectively.
