Herd Tennis Blanks Western Michigan Advances to Championship Match

MUNCIE, Ind.-The Marshall University tennis team advanced to the finals of the MAC tournament with a 4-0 decision over Western Michigan at the Cardnial Creek Tennis Center Saturday.
The Herd (20-7) captured the doubles point and won three singles matches to post the shutout over the Broncos (14-11). In Sunday?s championship the Herd will face Eastern Michigan at 1:00 pm.
At number one singles, sophomore Jessica Johnson grabbed a win over Larissa Chinwah, 6-2, 6-1. At no. 2 singles Anna Mitina defeated Frederika Girsang, 6-3,6-2 avenging a loss to her back on April 19. The Herd also picked up a win from Ashely Kroh. Kroh defeated, unbeaten in MAC play, defeated Stephanie Mueller, 6-3, 6-4.
