Marshall Tennis Ranked Eighth In East By Intercollegiate Tennis Association

The Marshall women's tennis team finished the 2002 season ranked eighth in the East, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The 2002 MAC Champions competed in the NCAA Championships for the first time last month.
Marshall sophomore Jessica Johnson (Sewickly, Pa.) finished the season ranked 16th in the east, while senior Anna Mitina (Sochi, Russia) finished the year 26th.
The Herd's doubles tandem of Mitina/Alice Sukner (So., Pittsburgh, Pa.) gained recognition for the eighth-best team in the region, while Johnson/Ashley Kroh (Fr., Louisville, Ky.) ended up ninth.
Marshall returns every player except Mitina for next season. In fact, the youthful Herd will not have any seniors on its 2002-03 roster.
