Basketball Hosts Toledo Saturday

1/10/2003

Marshall University's men's basketball team will be looking to move to 4-0 in Mid-American Conference play for the first time in school history when Toledo visits the Cam Henderson Center Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

Marshall (7-3 overall, 3-0 MAC)has only started
3-0 in MAC play twice in its 21-years as a member of the conference (Marshall was a member of the league from 1953 to 1969) and the last time it happened was to start the 1959-1960 season. No Marshall team has ever started 4-0 in the MAC.

The Thundering Herd enters the contest as one of only three teams unbeaten in MAC play, the others are Kent State (2-0) and Bowling Green (3-0).

Toledo (7-5 overall, 1-1 MAC) is coming off of a disappointing 72-65 loss to Northern Illinois that snaped the Rockets' 13-game home winning streak. Toledo has won six of their last eight games, including an impressive 81-76 win at then-#14 Michigan State.

The Rockets are led by senior guard Nick Moore who averages 15.8 points per game. Moore is also tied for first place on the Toledo all-time three-point field goals made list with 229 career three-pointers.
