Herd Tennis to Compete in Georgia Tech Fall Invitational

ATLANTA ? The Thundering Herd tennis team wraps up the fall portion of its 2004-05 schedule this weekend at the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
The tournament this weekend will be played at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the edge of Georgia Tech's campus, with players from Florida State, Maryland and the Thundering Herd joining the Yellow Jackets at the three-day event, which begins Friday at 10 a.m.
?It should be a really good weekend for us,? Marshall head coach John Mercer said. ?These are all really good teams and it?s going to be quite a challenge and a good learning experience for our team.?
Marshall plays doubles at 1 p.m., Friday and singles around 2:30 p.m. The Herd plays Maryland in doubles and Georgia Tech in singles.
The tournament will be played in a format where members from one school will compete against members of another school in eight singles matches and four doubles matches. Teams will play against all three opponents in both singles and doubles play during the course of the tournament. The schedule of play is as follows:
Friday
10 a.m.*Florida State vs. Maryland, Singles
1 p.m.*Florida State vs. Georgia Tech, Doubles
1 p.m.*Maryland vs. Marshall, Doubles
2:30 p.m.*Georgia Tech vs. Marshall, Singles
Saturday
10 a.m.*Georgia Tech vs. Marshall, Doubles
10 a.m.*Florida State vs. Maryland, Doubles
11:30 a.m.*Georgia Tech vs. Maryland, Singles
2 p.m.*Marshall vs. Florida State, Singles
Sunday
9 a.m.*Georgia Tech vs. Maryland, Doubles
9 a.m.*Marshall vs. Florida State, Doubles
10:30 a.m.*Marshall vs. Maryland, Singles
12:30 p.m.*Georgia Tech vs. Florida State, Singles
