MUNCIE, Ind. - The Marshall University women's swimming and diving team fell to the Ball State Cardinals, 188-101.
Leading the Herd was sophomore Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland) with first place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.34) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.46).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of Kuurto, sophomore Michele Knicely (Bridgeport, W.Va.), freshman Emily Edmonson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and freshman Cara Davison (Chesterton, Ind.) placed first with a time of 1:39.36. The 400-yard medley relay team placed second with a time of 4:03.75 and included Kuurto, Edmonson, sophomore Liisa Raty (Espoo, Finland) and sophomore Emily Moe (Rockford, Mich.).
In diving action sophomore Casey Mulholland (Stone Mountain, Ga.) placed first on the 3-meter (235.65) and third on the 1-meter (235.43).
Leading the Cardinals to victory was Kait Martin with first place finishes in the 400-yard medley relay (4:00.53), the 100-yard backstroke (59.95) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.46).
The Herd will be in action again on Saturday when the travel to Oxford to take on the Miami (OH) Red Hawks. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
