HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? Eastern Michigan got a career-high 18 points from freshman guard Canea Williams to guide the Eagles to their fourth-straight win, a 66-49 victory over Marshall in Mid-American Conference women?s basketball action at the Cam Henderson Center on Saturday.

The MAC?s best defensive team, Eastern Michigan (14-6, 7-3 MAC) held Marshall (12-8, 4-5 MAC) to a season-low 49 points on 16-of-52 shooting (30.8 percent). The Eagles won the turnover battle as well, 19-11.

Williams, a non-starter, shot 50 percent from the floor (6-of-12), including five 3-point field goals, in addition to three assists and two steals. Senior Marion Crandall contributed 14 points (four 3-pointers) with six rebounds while junior Erika Ford scored 10 points with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

The EMU 2-3 zone defense troubled the Herd into its second-worst shooting effort of the season.

?We were not very good on the offensive end tonight,? Marshall head coach Royce Chadwick said. ?We did a little bit of everything wrong.

?Eastern Michigan?s defense was very good, their zone was very active.?

One of the lone bright spots for the Thundering Herd was freshman Modupe Ishola (Washington, D.C.). The Marshall center scored a career-high 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting, with six rebounds and a block.

?I had a good performance in the post, but I could?ve played better,? the 6-foot-2 Ishola said.

Marshall never led in the game and trailed by as many as 26 points at the 5:10 mark of the second half. EMU took a 32-16 lead into halftime. The closest Marshall came to the Eagles in the second half was 14 points, never putting the EMU lead in jeopardy.

MU senior Catie Knable (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, but scored only two points, going 0-for-6 from the floor. Sikeetha Shepard-Hall (Houston, Texas) was held to nine points on a 1-for-10 performance (6-of-8 from the free-throw line).

Marshall outrebounded Eastern Michigan, 42-34.

On Wednesday, the Herd will begin a three-game road swing at Miami (Ohio), followed by visits to Toledo and Kent State.
