Miami Downs Herd to Finish Season Undefeated in the MAC

OXFORD, Ohio - Mid-American Conference foe Miami (OH) defeated Marshall, 186-87, in women's swimming and diving action today in Oxford.

Sophomore Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland) led the way for the Herd with first place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (56.35) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.19).

Kuurto along with freshmen Cara Davison (Chesterton, Ind.) and Emily Edmonson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and sophomore Michele Knicely (Bridgeport, W.Va.) placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (1:51.69). Kuurto, Edmonson, and Davison along with sophomore Emily Moe (Rockford, Mich.) placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.69.

In diving, sophomore Casey Mulholland (Stone Mountain, Ga.) placed first in the 1-meter (242.70) and third in the 3-meter (249.52).

The Red Hawks were led to victory by Maggi Bulla and Katie Unger. Bulla placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.78) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.42). Unger had first place finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.12) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.94).

Marshall will return to action Feb. 26-28 when they travel back to Oxford to compete in the MAC Championships.
