OXFORD, OH (Sports Network) - RedHawk Tim Schenke tapped in an errant Juby Johnson jumper with nine-tenths of a second in regulation to lead the RedHawks of Miami-Ohio to a 74-70 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in Mid-American Conference play from Millett Hall.
Johnson scored a game-high 30 points, while Josh Hausfeld added 15 points, four assists and four steals in the win for the RedHawks (17-10, 12-6 MAC) as they closed out the regular season on a two-game win streak. Chet Mason added 11 points in the victory as well.
The Herd (11-16, 8-10) was paced by Marvin Black who poured in 18 points, while Ronny Dawn and Mark Patton contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively, in the losing effort.
Marshall took advantage of Miami's poor shooting from the perimeter in the first half (2-of-14) and captured a 30-23 lead at the break.
In the second half the Herd erupted to connect on 61.1 percent from the field and 15-of-16 at the stripe, but it wasn't enough as the RedHawks converted 7-of-11 chances behind the three-point line in the four-point win.
Miami won the contest despite making just 9-of-25 behind the three-point line.
The Herd will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Henderson Center. Marshall will be the #8 seed, while the Eagles come in at the #9 slot.
