HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – For the second-consecutive season, both Marshall's men's and women's basketball teams will open the 2026-27 season with the MAC-SBC Challenge. The Herd men will open its regular season at the Cam Henderson Center against Buffalo on Monday, Nov. 2. The MU women will travel to UMass to open its 2026-27 campaign.
Coach Cornelius Jackson's Herd opened last season with a 78-72 victory on the road in the MAC-SBC Challenge. MU played in front of a sold-out Cam Henderson Center crowd against No. 23/24 Miami in its home leg last season. The SBC won 14 of 26 games in the challenge in 2025-26.
The 2026-27 season will be the third-consecutive season Coach Juli Fulks and Marshall WBB have opened its season in the event, having won both of its MAC-SBC Challenge games last season. The two leagues split the challenge last season with 13 wins apiece.
