Swimming and Diving Hosts Ohio on Saturday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University women's swimming and diving team will play host to the Ohio University Bobcats at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.
The Herd will be led by senior Erika Nilsson (Haninge, Sweden) and junior Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland). In Marshall's last outing Nilsson finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:16.55), the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.82) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.27). Kuurto caputred a new Marshall record in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.43) and also placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.61) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.35).
The Thundering Herd (9-2, 3-2 MAC) is currently ranked fourth in the Mid-American Conference just ahead of the Bobcats (6-1-1, 2-1-1 MAC) who are sixth. Both squads have faced common opponents so far this season with both teams defeating Youngstown State (Ohio def. YSU: 151-91, Mar. def. YSU: 211-88) and Buffalo (Ohio def. Buf.: 135-107, Mar. def. Buf.: 155-145). The Bobcats dropped Eastern Michigan (129-113) while Marshall fell to the Eagles (167-133) and Ohio tied Akron (150-150), while the Herd pulled out a win (151-149). Both squads lost in their duals against Toledo (UT def. Ohio: 128-115, UT def. Mar.: 171-126).
