GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Mark Patton scored a game-high 21 and reserve guard Mark Dorris added 18, including the go-ahead basket to start overtime, as Marshall topped Kenessaw State 77-74 at the Jack In The Box Holiday Classic on Friday.

Patton and Dorris combined for the final 5 points in regulation and first 5 in the extra period as the Thundering Herd (5-5) took third place at the four-team tournament.

Marshall led by 10 points midway through the second half. But the Herd found themselves trailing 65-60 after Kennesaw State (4-7) went on a 23-10 run down the stretch.

Patton's foul shot with 21 seconds to go tied things however and Dorris' layup started overtime and put Marshall up for good.

The Herd built its overtime lead to six, 72-66, on LaVar Carter's short hook with 1:47 left and held off the Owls' final charge, which ended with Golden Ingle's 3-pointer bounced off the front of the rim at the buzzer.

Ingle scored 18 to lead Kennesaw.
