Marshall's first two-a-day began with a strong but humid practice Wednesday morning at Joan C. Edwards Stadium and ended with aggressive drills focusing on the Herd's two-minute offense and defense.

First-year head coach Mark Snyder was pleased with his team's first two-a-day, but knows that there is still a lot of work ahead.

"The guys worked hard today and the effort was good," Snyder said. "We are getting better, but there are still some things that we need to work on."

A handful of players sat out the afternoon practice because of the heat, but Snyder said he expected the guys to get adjusted soon.

Junior defensive back Curtis Keyes returned to practice Wednesday after sitting out Tuesday with a foot injury, while sophomore quarterback Bernie Morris saw action as a wide receiver during offensive drills.

Fans will get their second glimpse of the 2005 Thundering Herd Saturday during the team's second scrimmage of fall camp. The scrimmage will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. and will last until 1:30 p.m.
