Meierbachtol Named Marshall Diving Coach

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Marshall University swimming and diving head coach Leonard Kraus announced the hiring of former All-American Lori Meierbachtol as the school's new diving coach Thursday.
"I am extremely pleased to have Lori joining our staff," Kraus said. "Lori is a great fit for our program with her extensive diving background and education in physical education, kinesiology and biomechanics."
A four-year letterwinner for the Indiana University swimming and diving team, Meierbachtol earned All-America honors in 2003 in the 10-meter platform when she took seventh place at the NCAA Championships. While at Indiana, she dove under the tutelage of Dr. Jeff Huber, the 2000 and 2004 United States Olympic diving coach. She also was a member of the Hoosiers' 2003 Big Ten championship team and earned 2003 Academic All-America honors.
Meierbachtol also qualified for the 2004 United States Olympic Trials in synchronized diving and was a member of the 2003 Indiana World Trials Team. Prior to college, she was a 1999 high school All-American and a 1998 Iowa State Champion.
Meierbachtol graduated from Indiana in 2003 with a B.S. in kinesiology with an emphasis in physical education and went on to coach the West High School diving team in Davenport, Iowa. She also has experience coaching at the Indiana Diving Camp and assisted with age group diving practices for three years.
The former Iowa native is married to Garret Meierbachtol.
