HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University Head Coach Leonard Kraus announces the signing of three addtional swimmers for the 2005-2006 season.
The Thundering Herd will add Camilla Overup, Samanthan Nolan and Kayla Truswell. This group will be joined by Kyla Jungclause who signed in the fall.
Overup joins the Herd from Koege, Denmark. She is poised to come in and become the number one backstroker and will add depth in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles. Overup is a former member of the Danish Junior National Team. "Camilla is a great girl with a good upside," said Kraus. "A lot of our success in the medley relays next year will balance on her performance and improvements in the back."
Dearborn, Mich. native, Noland is expected to compete in the butterfly and individual medley events. She has qualified and finaled at the Michigan State Meet all four years of high school. "Sam will come right in and add punch and depth to our fly events," Kraus said. "I think she will become a nice one-two punch with Milla [Kuurto] in the 100 and 200 yard fly events."
Rounding out the 2005-2006 class is Kayla Truswell. The London, Ontario native is joining the Herd and former teammate Danielle Chappelle. A strong competitor in the butterfly events, she is poised to give Marshall a triple threat along with Noland and Kuurto. "Kayla is raw and I think she can blossom here at Marshall," said Kraus.
"I am happy with these three recruits. They are all quality people that bring a lot to the table for this team," Kraus said. "Along with Kyla Jungclaus from the fall, I think these recruits can make a real difference in this team."
