ATHENS, Ohio - The Marshall University swimming and diving team finished seventh at the Mid-American Conference Championships with a score of 298.
Junior Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland) led the Thundering Herd on the final day of competition by capturing the victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.85.
In the 1650-yard freestyle senior Erika Nilsson (Haninge, Sweden) finished third with a time of 17:01.71 while freshman Ashley McIlvain (Brentwood, Tenn.) placed 12th (17:38.36).

"We were pleased with the fact that we moved up two spots from last year," said Marshall University Head Coach Leonard Kraus. "Our score was really close to the fifth and sixth place teams also, unfortunately we just weren't able to overcome them."
On the boards junior diver Casey Mulholland (Stone Mountain, Ga.) finished 12th in the 3-meter event.
