LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Marshall Thundering Herd volleyball team fell to the Louisville Cardinals 3-0 (30-19, 30-21, 30-15) Friday at the Cardinal Thanksgiving Challenge.
Marshall (20-12) found it difficult to gain momentum in the match as Louisville (24-6) headed on the attack early in each game.
Marshall's Kelly-Anne Billingy (Trincity, Trinidad) led all players with 17 kills. Billingy continues to lead the NCAA with 6.64 kills per game coming into the last week volleyball regular season.
Herd junior Stephanie Cahill, a Louisville, Ky. native, recorded her 19th match of the season and eight straight match with double digit kills as she scored 11 kills against the Cards.
Marshall's lone senior, Christin Bimberg (Schwerin, Germany) led the team in assists with 26.
The Herd has concluded its regular season matches for 2006 and finished with its fifth consecutive regular season with at least 20 wins. The 64-team brackets for the NCAA Division-I Women's Volleyball Championships will be announced between 3 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, on ESPNEWS.
