Herd Tennis Blanks FAU Owls, 7-0

Boca Raton, Fla. - The Thundering Herd tennis blanked the Florida Atlantic Owls 7-0 Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla., in the first match of its Spring Break Trip.
The Herd improves to 12-5 with the win and FAU drops to 4-9 with the loss.
No. 66 ranked Marshall came out strong and swept the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. Lynzee Kever and Kellie Schmitt won 8-0 at No. 1 over Elodie Wendling and Katherine Bartnik, Shannon Brown and Karolina Soor were 8-2 winners on court two over Sandra Moreno-Perragaard and Claudia Kecht and Jeanne Schwartz and Jessica Keener took an 8-1 win on court three against Danielle Simone and Pia Terol.
In singles, Marshall would continue to roll and won all six matches.
Kever downed Kecht 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, Schmitt disposed of Wendling 6-1, 6-3 and Schwartz handled Simone 6-1, 6-1 from the third position. Brown fought back for a 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 win over Bartnik at No. 4 while Soor defeated Moreno-Perragaard 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5. Keener was a 6-1, 6-1 winner on court six to finish off the sweep for Marshall with her win over Terol.
Order of finish for the singles matches was 3, 6, 5, 2, 1, 4.
Marshall will change locations Monday and head south to Miami for the rest of its stay in the Sunshine State. Marshall will practice at the University of Miami on Monday in preparation for its match there on Tuesday against the No. 48 ranked Denver Pioneers.
Tuesday's match against Denver is set for a 10 a.m. start.
