Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Thundering Herd tennis team picked up a 4-0 win over the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders Saturday morning in Murfreesboro, Tenn. to wrap up its regular season.
The Herd improves to 18-6 overall to finish the regular season while Middle Tennessee falls to 7-14 on the year.
The Herd cruised to victory by capturing the doubles point and three singles matches to claim the four points needed for victory before Middle Tennessee called it a day. Marshall was winning all of the other matches before the match was called for time purposes.
In doubles, Karolina Soor and Shannon Brown defeated Kelly Adams and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom, 8-3 on court two. Marshall also picked up a win from Jeanne Schwartz and Jessica Keener from the No. 3 spot 8-3 over Pooja Kommireddi and Elvira Yusupova. The Herd's No. 35 ranked tandem of Lynzee Kever and Kellie Schmitt were up 6-3, but they didn't finish because the doubles point was already decided.
In singles, Kever was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Szabo, Schmitt downed Chemin 6-1, 6-3 and Keener beat Adams 6-1, 6-0 for the Herd's three wins.
No. 55 ranked Marshall will now head to the Conference USA Tournament in Dallas next week. The Herd will find out its seed Tuesday.
