Marshall Tennis Names New Assistant Coach

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University women's tennis head coach John Mercer named Megan Muth the program's new assistant coach on Monday.
Muth comes to Marshall from a prominent William and Mary squad, where she earned numerous honors as a player and defeated a host of top-ranked players in singles and doubles competition.
During the 2003-04 season, she earned the Colonial Athletic Association's Co-Player of the Year honor and was All-American in doubles and reached the NCAA quarterfinals. In 2002-03 she was name ITA East Region Rookie of the Year and ended the season ranked 65th in the nation, reaching a high of 52nd as a freshman at William and Mary.
"She is a great addition and competitor to our program," Mercer said. "She understands what has to be done on and off the court to be a success."
"She comes from a top program and was an All-American, so she will be valuable in making our program that much better," he said.
Laurie Mercer, the team's former assistant tennis coach will remain with the program but as a volunteer assistant coach.
"Between the three of us we have a really great coaching staff," John Mercer said.
