Herd Tennis in ITA's Singles and Doubles Preseason Rankings

HUNTINGTON - In the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association Preseason rankings of 2006, Lynzee Kever and Kellie Schmitt have been rated the association's No. 34 team in doubles.

Kever and Schmitt were also ranked in the ITA's Singles Top 125 at No. 105 and No. 110, respectively.

Marshall head coach John Mercer said it was an honor to have the two ranked.

"We are really excited to have Lynzee and Kellie ranked," he said. "It says a lot about their results in singles and their doubles performances."

Schmitt and Kever are the only two student-athletes representing Conference USA on either the single or doubles rankings.

"It definitely is a great starting point," Mercer said. "With the two making the NCAA Tournament last year, hopefully we will have similar if not better results."

The Herd will start the fall season Friday in Williamsburg, Va., at the William & Mary Tournament. The tournament will run through Sunday.
