Kever and Schmitt to Compete at ITA All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The Marshall University Thundering Herd tennis team's top duo of Lynzee Kever and Kellie Schmitt will be competing in one of the most prestigious tournaments this weekend. For the 22nd year the Riviera Country Club will be hosting the ITA All American Championships, which are set to begin Sept. 29.

Kever and Schmitt will be competing in both singles and doubles competition. Kever is in the qualifying draw and Schmitt is in the pre-qualifier. As a team they will be competing in the qualifying draw.

The tournament is one of the three biggest tournament of the year along with the ITA's National Indoor Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

Coming into the tournament the only competition the Herd duo has faced came at the William and Mary Invitational. Both Schmitt and Kever had a successful weekend with Schmitt taking third overall in Flight A going 3-1 with a victory over 37th ranked Inga Beerman of Virginia Tech.

Kever finished fourth in Flight B of singles and in doubles the tandem placed fifth in Flight A with an 8-3 win over Maryland's top team.

The ITA All-American runs through Oct. 8.
