HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) -Mike O'Donnell scored 20 points to lead Central Florida past Marshall 78-71 on Saturday night.
Dave Noel added 17 points and Josh Peppers had 16 for UCF (12-4, 1-1 Conference USA).
Markel Humphrey scored 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting for Marshall (5-11, 0-3). Mark Dorris added 15 points.
UCF used a 21-3 run spanning both halves to surge ahead 56-42 with 15 minutes left in the game.
O'Donnell hit back-to-back 3-pointers in a 17-second span to put UCF ahead 67-48 lead with 12:54 remaining.
UCF survived despite making just two field goals over the final 11 minutes and being outscored 21-8.
UCF shot 28-of-54 (52 percent) from the floor for the game while Marshall shot 25-of-61 (41 percent).
